Job Description

You will drive the design, development and productization of new camera products based on SiOnyx’s ground breaking ultra low light image sensors. You will make design decisions as well as integrate the latest technology trends to ensure that the products seamlessly integrate with market requirements.  Critical to the role is working with Asian ODM camera partners as well independently driving advancements for next generation products.  This is an engineering role and therefore you must be comfortable doing direct design work.  Ideally you can handle both hardware as well as software implementation.  As necessary, you will also define tasks for outsourced support and manage those outsourced support functions.   Lastly, you will assist with defining future image sensor and camera products for the company.

You must be a hands on engineer, well versed in camera technologies and comfortable working in the laboratory environment.   You will demonstrate breadth in your technical knowledge, precision in your communication, and thoroughness in your documentation process.

Knowledge of modern ISPs (Ambarella), camera hardware, board level debug of microcontroller/ISP and embedded systems, optical designs, TCP/IP, logic standards, and mixed signal systems a must. Knowledge of FPGA based camera systems a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Camera hardware design engineering
  • ODM engineering management
  • Travel to Asia required (multiple times per year)
  • Camera software development
  • Cost/budget analysis and planning
  • Communicating with customers to understand their requirements
  • Communicating to customers progress, challenges, and risk mitigation

Qualifications:

  • BA or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics
  • 8 years experience in relevant hardware systems (camera systems)
  • 3-5 years experience with modern ISPs
  • Working knowledge in a wide range digital image processing algorithms and techniques, as well as image quality metrics, measurement techniques, and optimizations
  • Working knowledge of embedded OS environments
  • Ability to travel internationally without restriction
  • Strong technical and communication skills, with relationship-building capabilities
  • Strong collaboration skills and assertiveness to help influence key decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak Mandarin a plus
